A MOST TRIUMPHANT RETURN
ION PULSAR
November 6, 2004
This is our second "Ion Pulsar". The first one
lies somewhere in a swampy marsh between Arlington High School soccer field
and the James Baird State Park golf course. It's a risk we all take when
we push that launch button. After that fateful C67 powered flight into oblivion
we knew we just had to build another one. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the design of
this rocket from it's pointy black nose 17 big inches and two body tube
sizes down to its cool fins with dowel landing pods. Just to play it safe
we launched it on an A83 on this windy day as the light was fading. Our
careful build rewarded us with a nice straight flight and a touchdown about
50 feet from the launch pad. We painted it with spray paint that makes the
surface look like hammered metal adding to the sci-fi charm of the design.
